Tom O’Brien

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional since 2008, Tom believes that the best financial decisions are made only after the entire financial picture is looked at holistically. Tom works with his clients to develop a cohesive, realistic strategy for financial success through in-depth conversations around financial goals, concerns and values. He also seeks input from the client's entire financial team including their CPA/EA, personal insurance providers, attorneys, mortgage brokers, private bankers, realtors and others. Once the groundwork is complete, Tom helps his clients implement tailored investment and insurance solutions that are consistent with their risk and their investing values. Together, he and his clients continually monitor and adjust the strategy as life develops along the way. Tom’s most rewarding career accomplishments are when clients achieve their financial goals of first-time home ownership, purchasing vacation properties, selling their business or simply living comfortably in retirement.

Tom lives in San Mateo, CA with his wife and twins, Stella and Matteis. Tom was raised in Half Moon Bay, CA from the 5th grade onward and has been actively involved as a board member in a variety of Coastside organizations. In addition to time spent living in various cities in California, he has also spent time living in New Mexico, Illinois, Arizona, Barcelona (Spain) and Archamps (France). Tom earned his bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Spanish from UC Santa Barbara followed by an MBA in Global Business Management from Thunderbird; The International School of Global Management. Outside of work, Tom’s interests include coaching his twins’ sports teams, traveling, golf and backpacking.
